Carmila Beach

Our target is Carmila beach which is only 70km down the road. It is Sugar Cane country again. We drive down to the beach front which has nearly 2km of free sites along the beach with 3 long drops scattered amongst it. It is quite sandy so 4WD is required. We find a nice spot and set up. The tide is out and the photo will show just how far it is. It took us ½ hour to walk out to the water and back. A cool walk along the beach over to an estuary which looks a good place to fish. A cruisy arvo sitting around reading. (Yes I’m still going on the book) I’m rigged up and ready to fish one rod a lure one a no 2 hook and the hand line has a 3 gang for whole pilchard to fish after dark. We hope the tide comes in soon but I think it will be dark before the water reaches shore again. The tide finally came in with a big blow and came right up to the bank.

Up early and down the beach, the tide is coming in. Not much action but no bait loss from little fish either. Tina came down later and I gave her my rod while I had a leak and bang a legal size bream. Not Happy!! Anyway it’s our fish and we are going to eat it.

We went down to the outlet as the tide went out but nothing. Off to the pub for a beer or 2. We chat to the lady publican and anther couple of local ladies who are real country folk but dressed in purple and maybe even wit ha set off purchased tits that apparently only Tina noticed. It was a nice arvo and then back to the van for some lunch and games (Chinese checkers & Chess and some more reading). Its cooling down quite early tonight. We are having BBQ sausages, we are hoping to get another fish on the morning so we have 2.
