Mackay

We are on the move again today so our normal pack up routine and then off to Mackay. The mountains are really close to the coast here and it is quite spectacular. It is sugar cane harvesting time and we are a little disappointed that they don’t seem to burn the cane anymore.

I'm not sure why but this has been one place that has always interested me, I suppose it is because they always claim to have lots of jobs and not enough people but it is to much like a city for my liking now I have seen it.

Mackay is a big town and we head just out of town for a caravan park. It is always cheaper in big towns to head just out of town. There is a massive breakwater you can drive onto and from there you can see the islands as well as the massive line of Coal ships out in the ocean. A quite evening watching the Aussies in the 5th test.
