Welcome to Andy & Tina’s Great Aus adventure blog. Many of you will be all to well aware of the big story and long background to our trip. For those of you who are new let me provide a brief background.
We both love camping and we wanted to see Aus and we were both sick of working (no great news there) so we decided to create a 5 year plan and quit our jobs and travel around Aus for 2 years. Problem was not only was 5 years a long way away but made savings targets very difficult to maintain. So we made it a 3 year plan and then a two year plan and then at the beginning of 08 it was a 10 month plan. Well here it is June 08 and only 3 ½ months till our first trip.
We have been quite busy buying our 80 Series Diesel Landcruiser, a great purchase off Brian’s mate Joe in Bendigo. We have now spent nearly 6 months modifying it for the trip, dual batteries multiple power outlets, water tanks, False floor, fridge and the list goes on. It is surprising how long all these jobs take.
The most important purchase was the caravan, 6 months of Ebay and Internet searches and finally last week we got it, the perfect van from a lovely old couple who look after things just like you do yourself. So we have a car, a caravan, a budget and most of the accessories and well some sort of plan. The real problem seems to be the World oil prices well don’t they just suck.
Probably the hardest of all was planning all these things without really knowing when we were going to finish work. Well we just told our companies the truth about when we would be leaving last month and all was cool.
So to all our friends and relatives and anyone else who has nothing better to do I hope you can keep track or our trip and we will try to show the wonders of Aus, the places we think are special and those not so special.
